A celebration of the Royal Air Force and the daily lives of recruits in this collection of rare and previously unseen film material from the Imperial War Museum archives. 

Shot by official cameramen for the RAF before the creation of the RAF Film Production Unit in 1941.This documentary tells the story of the early years of the RAF, from the start of WWII through the phoney war, the Blitzkrieg and the Battle of Britain.It captures on camera the extraordinary everyday lives of those that served in the RAF.

Alongside the Spitfire and Hurricane fighters and Wellington, Stirling and Halifax bombers, the film contains rare footage of less famous RAF aircraft including the Fairey Battle, Boulton-Paul Defiant, the Whitley, Gloster Gladiator, Bristol Beaufighter, the Anson, Airspeed Oxford and the Tiger Moth Trainer.

Other highlights include a filmed account of a Blenheim raid on Northern France, a Sunderland flying boat sortie over Norway and Winston Churchill, inspecting new American aircraft for the RAF including the B-17, Douglas Boston and P-40.

The documentary also includes rare RAF training footage of new recruits, work at the Air Ministry and film from the aircraft manufacturing plans,
