This comprehensive film record of the entire European wartime campaign, from D-Day to the fall of Germany, incorporates some of the most memorable footage of the war ever captured on camera. Co-directed by Carol Reed in 1945.
DESERT VICTORY (2 DISCS) - Created by the British Army Film and Photographic Unit, in collaberation with the RAF Film Production Unit, this film captured The Battle of El Alamein as it occured. Teams of cameramen followed the 8th Army troops into combat against the Rommerls Afrika Korps.
Directed by Roy Boulting, it is considered one of the best documentaries produced during WW2, and won the Best Documentary Oscar in 1943.
TUNISIAN VICTORY - A 1943 co-production between the British Ministry of Information and the American Office of War Information. Amongst its prolific directors included Frank Capra, John Huston and Roy Boulting.
The documentary follows the entire Tunisian Campaign, from initial preparations for the Torch landings, to the iconic victory parade through Tunis.
BURMA VICTORY Made by the British Army Film Unit in 1945 using film supplied by British, Indian and American combat cameramen.
Burma Victory shows the drama and carnage of the Burma Campaign, making use of real combat footage and reviewing the strategy and tactics used.
Directed by Roy Boulting, this film was the most celebrated film ever made about Burma during the war. It includes a special bonus feature showing Lord Louis Mountbatten's memories of the campaign.
