Radio Waves - Broadcasting Live 1974-1976 (3CD) Box set (CD)
This three disc anthology is the very best of the live broadcasts broadcast by Eagles from 1974-1976. The set opens with the legendary broadcast from the Beacon Theatre New York on 13th April 1974 and features special guests Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt. Eagles had originally been formed as a backing band for Linda Ronstadt, but had since enjoyed major success when their 1972 debut album produced a string of hit singles. Their 1973 follow-up Desperado produced two further hit singles and by 1974, with the launch of the On The Border album, guitarist Don Felder had joined and Best Of My Love was their first number one. This broadcast features stunning performances of their then current set. By 1976 Eagles were approaching their creative peak. Mandolin and banjo player Bernie Leadon had been replaced by Joe Walsh and the result is a more rock orientated experience and featured four of Joe s songs in the live set. Eagles had just completed the recording their fifth album, Hotel California with Walsh when they hit the road. However, the supporting promotional tour was extremely fractious, it led to founder member Randy Meisner leaving the band and laid the foundations for Eagles to split in 1979. Featured here is the legendary live FM broadcast on 6th November 1976 from The Summit in Houston, which took place shortly before the release of the Hotel California album on 8th December 1976.
