Danish historical drama about a group of German prisoners clearing the Danish coastline of live landmines.

In post-WWII Denmark, a group of young German prisoners-of-war are forced to clear, with their bare hands, the Danish coastline of millions of live landmines, originally planted by the Nazis under Hitlers orders, under the watch of a Danish Sergeant who slowly learns to appreciate their terrifying and suicidally dangerous plight.

Rasmussen, a grizzled and brutal Danish army sergeant who oversees a work-party of teenage German conscripts, is utterly contemptuous of them at first. Slowly, as relationships are formed and developed, he sees them as human beings instead of machines.
