Spotlight on Sir Michael Palin

Michael Palin first started writing comedy sketch material with Terry Jones, who he befriended at University. They broke into ‘the big time’ when they were invited to join the writing team of the BBC’s The Frost Report, which brought the pair into contact with fellow writers John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Eric Idle. The rest, they say, is history!

Palin cemented his reputation with Monty Python's Flying Circus and Ripping Yarns. His work also includes several Monty Python films, The Missionary, A Private Function, an award-winning performance as the hapless Ken in A Fish Called Wanda and, after parts in American Friends and Fierce Creatures.

Michael’s television credits include his three award-winning travel series (Around the World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole and Full Circle), films for the BBC's Great Railway Journeys series and Alan Bleasdale’s acclaimed drama, GBH.
