Railway Lives with Tony Francis (DVD)
Rail enthusiast Tony Francis travels abroad and within Britain to explore the railway heritage of each region.
Tony Francis travels to Poland with a group of Stafforshire railway fanatics for whom the perfect holiday involves driving steam trains. Here they have the chance to do just that, blissfully unaware of the Polish commuters on their way to work!
Francis continues his exploration of the worlds railways as he travels to China with a group of train enthusiasts to witness the last run of mainline steam engines on the planet. The emotion of
the occasion proves too much for some.
This time Francis ventures closer to home and explores the railways of the Midlands. He begins his journey in Lincolnshire with a trip to the coastal resort of Skegness, before meeting a train-loving couple who actually live in a station.
THE HEART OF WALES
Francis continues his journey across Britain, meeting an unusual restaurateur, and he enjoys the sounds of an on-board jazz band on the Heart of Wales line.
Continuing with his explorations in the Midlands, Francis learns about the work of rural gatekeepers who man the mainline barriers 24 hours a day. He also meets a couple who celebrated their wedding on-board a steam train to Stratford-upon-Avon.
EAST COAST MAINLINE
Francis jumps aboard the East Coast Mainline in the Midlands to experience silver service at speed, and he learns how fresh Worcestershire asparagus was once transported across the UK by rail.
Enjoy travelling around Britain and the world by train from the comfort of your sofa!
