Johnny Frenchman (DVD)
Cornish and French fishermen forget their pre-war differences and unite to fight the Germans in this 1945 Ealing classic. Starring Tom Walls as Nat Pomeroy, the harbour master in a Cornish fishing village.
An Ealing Studios classic from 1945. During the balmy pre-war days, the fishermen of Cornwall enjoy a friendly rivalry with their French counterparts – and one village woman in particular. The war changes everything however, and all petty differences are forgotten as British and French fishermen unite to fight the Germans.
Nat is constantly outsmarted by French poacher Lannec Florrie and is further irritated by the fact that Florrie's son Yan's dating his daughter Sue.
But when the Nazis turn up in the village, Nat and Lannec must put their differences aside and join forces to thwart the Germans.
