It is the late 1960s, homosexuality has just been decriminalised, and Jeremy Thorpe, the leader of the Liberal party, has a secret he is desperate to hide.
Hugh Grant stars as Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as his ex-lover Norman Scott, in the fact-based drama.
Jeremy Thorpe has a secret affair with stable hand Norman Scott before homosexuality is decriminalised. As his political career takes off, he becomes determined to silence his resentful ex-lover.
Thorpe became the first British politician to be tried for conspiracy and incitement to murder charged over an assassination plot against Scott.
