Kenneth More and Nigel Havers star in BBC's 1978 drama set in an alternative present where Germany won WW2

If you've seen Amazon Prime's The Man in the High Castle, you must watch the BBC's classic telling of this fascinating story.

Peter Ingram (Kenneth More) lives in Britain in an alternate 1970s where Germany won the war, and is now occupying Britain.

He is the writer of a popular soap opera called An Englishman's Castle, which is set in London during the Blitz when the German invasion occurred. He chooses to live a quiet and boring life, deliberately choosing to remain oblivious to the subtle rule by the Nazis and believing he is living a normal English life.

Peter is forced to open his eyes to the world around him however when a woman he cares for reveals she is Jewish, and the member of an underground resistance movement.

Will Peter join her in an attempt to overthrow the country's oppressors, or continue to avoid facing reality?

Written by Philip Mackie (The Naked Civil Servant).
