Based on his own life story, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s film charts the astonishing journey of a young fostered Nigerian boy who, struggles to find individuality, ends up with a skinhead gang in 1980’s England. Starring Damson Idris and Kate Beckinsale.
At six weeks old, Enitan is left in the care of a white working-class family in the dock-town of Tilbury, in Essex. His new substitute mother, Ingrid, makes for a difficult, but dubious foster parent. Hesitant of his place in the world, and without a mother’s love, desperate to fit in the teenage Enitan falls into self-destruction, ending up in a local skinhead gang led by Levi.
When all appears gone, a compassionate teacher, Miss Dapo, offers him one last attempt at redemption.
Told with brutal honesty, Farming is an unwavering autobiographical portrait of a young man who must encounters the odds and realise that, in a world of hatred, his hardest fight will be learning to love himself.
