Jules Verne's Rocket to the Moon (DVD)
Based on a Jules Verne novel, this wacky, slapstick comedy stars Terry-Thomas and Jimmy Clitheroe alongside Burl Ives’ Phineas T. Barnum, as the team that finances the first flight to the moon.
Fleeing his creditors back home, American showman Phineas T. Barnum sets up shop in England in 1875, and sets about persuading a syndicate of Brits to fund a rocket ship to the moon.
The group set about constructing their rocket with the intention of blasting it into orbit from a gigantic cannon, but the interference of foreign spies and saboteurs ensures that the ambitious project is doomed before it has even begun.
