Fantasy adventure epic following King Henry II (Malcolm McDowell)'s son Richard (Gregory Chandler) as he proves his honour and ability to lead the English Army into war.

Before King Henry can abdicate from the throne and give up his title, he sends his son Richard to the Knight's Martyr, a secret jail where prisoners must fight for their survival against numerous enemies.

Through dedication and training, Richard fights his way out of the prison while proving his worthiness for the throne, and attains the epithet of The Lionheart in doing so.
