This 1919 documentary chronicles Sir Ernest Shackleton's attempt to cross Antarctica between 1914 and 1916, on his ship The Endurance.
In July 1914, an Australian filmmaker accompanied Ernest Shackletons ill-fated two year expedition to the Antarctic. What began as a glorious British expedition to cross Antarctica on foot turned into a desperate battle for survival when Shackletons ship The Endurance became trapped in pack ice and was slowly crushed.
Remarkably, the filmmaker was able to save all his reels of film recording this famous expedition and they are presented here in this historic, feature-length documentary.
