Hes instructed to report in to the cynical and self-serving British diplomat Michael Spearpoint (Ian Richardson), where he accepts a brief to discover fraud while ridding the market of a huge surplus of rotting plums.’ Dorfmann is also brainwashed’ by shady fixer Vlad Milcic (Alexei Sayle), and seduced by the beautiful and mysterious Nadine (Almanta Suska).’ 

Easily manipulated, the well-intentioned Dorfmann blunders along in his role, upsetting rivals, and causing chaos, in the web of double-dealing misadventure.
