David Essex stars as a solitary canal lock-keeper whose life is changed forever in this BBC One series from 1988.

Davey Jackson (David Essex), is a likeable, cockney, solitary canal lock-keeper working near the village of Chumley-on-the-Water, who also happens to be an ex-convict.

His tranquil life is changed when he meets Sarah, whose barge breaks down. While waiting for help, Sarah stays at Davey's cottage, where she finds herself falling for his charming and lovable nature. 

A heartwarming, relaxing and delightful romantic comedy set in the beautiful English countryside, and featuring an original music score from David Essex.
