The complete three-part BBC drama series set amidst the lesbian sub-culture of 1890s England. In the first episode Nan, the heroine of the series, meets male impersonator Kitty Butler and begins her first affair. Episode two finds Nan voyaging into the Victorian sexual underworld, where she meets rich society widow Sapphie. The final episode sees Nan destitute again and this time preparing to make the most important decision of her life.
